10 Copilot Prompts to Streamline Your Work
Microsoft Copilot is a true game-changer in the world's largest productivity software suite. It can understand and respond to natural language queries, provide detailed explanations, analyze data, generate content, and assist with complex tasks across Microsoft applications. Here are a few of our favorite Copilot prompts to help you streamline your work:
In Teams
• “What work do I have going on with [name]?”
This mines chats, email, SharePoint, and OneDrive and provides referenced links for all discovered content.
• “Recap our meeting on [x] with notes and action items.”
Copilot will keep track of key topics and action items so you can stay focused during the meeting and avoid listening to the recording after.
In PowerPoint
• “Create a presentation on [topic] for a/an [x] audience.”
This will yield a great visual starting point, allowing you to then customize the content as needed.
In Word
• “Help me write a [blog/report/job description/etc.] on [topic] for a/an [x] audience, using [x] data.”
You can further specify the topic, target audience, purpose, data sources, and much more.
• “Proofread the [quarterly financial report] and suggest edits to make [introduction] more direct.”
Ask Copilot to scan your documents or snippets to catch typos and grammatical errors and suggest improvements.
In Outlook
• “Draft a [short] email to the [marketing] team, outlining the upcoming [sales campaign].”
Describe the email’s purpose, recipient, and tone. Copilot will create a well-structured draft for you to customize.
• “Summarize this email chain into key points and action items.”
This is particularly useful when you’ve been added into the middle of an email chain.
In the Copilot app
• “Find the latest about [project x]. What’s the current timeline? When are deliverables due?”
If you’ve been on vacation for a week and need to find out what’s happening with a certain project, Copilot acts as your personal assistant.
• “Tell me about [topic].”
Copilot will retrieve relevant information and references to help you learn about any subject you’re interested in.
• “Give me ideas for a/an [campaign/product feature/team-building exercise/etc.].”
Specify the context and Copilot will brainstorm creative ideas.
