Phishing Emails That Look Internal Without Any Account Compromise

Our HBS Security Team has been tracking a phishing pattern across client environments that bypasses most standard inbox protections. Attackers are abusing a built-in Microsoft 365 feature called Direct Send to send spoofed emails that appear to come from inside organizations with no compromised accounts, credentials or malware.

    ShinyHunters struck again, hitting the world's largest convenience store chain last month, stealing over 600,000 Salesforce records.  

    Liberty Mutual Class Action: Insurance giant Liberty Mutual faces a class action lawsuit following a recent attack from the Everest ransomware group. Plaintiffs claim Liberty Mutual failed to properly protect customer data.

     

    BTMOB Android Malware: Delivered via phishing lures, the malware combined financial theft with data exfiltration and remote access, threatening Android users.  

    IBM and Red Hat to Spend $5 Billion to Secure Supply Chains: Project Lightwell is designed to fix vulnerabilities without breaking what is already in production. 20,000 engineers and a $5 billion investment will establish an 'enterprise clearinghouse' that leverages AI to scale software securely.
